I want to kiss this damn thing! I agree with Romy that hearing a good FM redefines what a (true) high-end is. For the past 5 days I've been listening for live FM streams of baroque concerts from Gdansk http://www.actushumanus.com/

Perusing my objective to be able to do FM recording remotely by VPN to my home recording equipment I think I found the last entry that I would like to have. I do not clearly understand if it is exactly what I need but it looks very promising.

Hi Romy,I live close to the old WCRB Waltham Studios, although I am on a hill facing north-east. Unlike neighbors from Newton and Wellesley (and in my car) I actually have had good (9/10) reception from WCRB's Lowell transmission tower (did not liste...

[quote user="glaesemann"]How deep can one go with FM signal analysis? I'm interested in what instruments people are using to analyze their FM signals. Here in Westchester County just north of New York City we have a few good stations. I use a Winegar...

The more I play with me room the more I fell in love with it. As I mentioned before there are so many truly perfect features in the room that I very frequently note that if I build the listening room from scratch according to my own design then very...

Can anyone shed some light on this problem? I am using a Yamaha T-85 stereo tuner. It has meters to show the strength of signal quality. Yesterday after installing a Terk indoor antenna and properly positioning the antenna I was able to get a ...

Dear Romy,I performed the following tests:Test 1.Digital CD source OFF;Digital Domain DD-2 processor OFF;Lavry DA-924 OFF;Sansui TU-X1 ON and set to FM output;Custom tube amplifier ON volume HIGH;ESL-57 speaker arrays ON;Result: no interference and n...

[quote user="Romy the Cat"]Hm, this is interesting. I my case nether neither CEC nor Bidat affect other of the tuners. Lavrys do but not Bidat. Try to put ferrite on ALL Sansui inputs: antenna, power cord, output cables. I have 3 bids on each leg of ...

Play with REL I made other modification the boosted the REL sensitivity to insane level. I modified the way in which my REL delivers antenna’s signal to REL’s front end. Now my REL has BNC ground lifted antenna jack (I tended to use BNC connectors fo...

This tool allow you to position your antenna at very high precision at your properly, vertically to climb up at very top and to visualize what the tip of your antenna will see in direct line of site. The tool gives 360° panoramic sketch labeled w...

With the coming of the new director to WCRB (Benjamin Raw) the station, without any big hooplas and announcements of “perestroika”, kind of surreptitiously, is turning out to be a truly fine classical station. There are ton of things that they do now...

[quote user="Antonio J."]So I thought my tuner weren't properly adjusted. It has not been serviced nor recently aligned, I have no proficient technicians around who I depend to let them put their hands into the tuner. The damn thing always ...

Hi guys,
Thank you for the comments. I'm a complete newbie to RF, long learning curve ahead.
1) Antenna - My guiding was Romy's finding (backed by Dima) that this tuner is easily overdriven with too strong an ant...

I raised the antenna on 10 feet. Got extra 8dB of signal, not a lot itself but it a lot from a point of view of signal to noise ratio and I now can get a the specific station that I want with an acceptable level of noise. Oxric, thanks for your help....

I am looking for a new taller tower for my FM antenna but I wonder how high I can go without a need to set up the balancing weirs. My antenna is big, 11 section yagi and combined with ice it might be a lot of weight. I live in eastern Massachuset...

Peter, I do not know what is doing in with AM, I do not use it and all my experiments are in FM range. You might do the following: take FM antenna out of tuner and use instead a few cm of local wire. Defeat the noise causation on Sansui and run the t...

Nope, it was not the “new” TU-X1 but the old one and it has nothing to do with modifications that I did with the old one. I just looks like found a way to make the TU-X1 to lose a lot of its noise by changing the way how antenna feeds to the front en...

I overly impressed with the new way or routing the antenna input with my TU-X1. This tuner with this new input get amassing sensitively (much higher than original) with a nose of a good CD player – very impressive! Way more interesting as it was righ...

hi all,an option for an antenna attenuator is the magnum-dynalab signal sleuth. this is something tha allows attenuation and amplification of fm signals +/-30db. it's also tunable. in most situations, its value is negligible, but in some situation...

Dear Romy,
My tests showed 2 separate types of noise/interference being caused when TU-X1 & DA-924 were switched ON while the TU-X1 was set to OUTPUT FM: -
First noise/interference, the Sansui TU-X1 was passing an AM broadcast on VARIABLE OUTPU...
